What Our Vice President Does

We will have elections next year for chapter officers. We need people to fill all the elected positions. We also want help with the other tasks our officers do that don’t go with the elected office.

Our Vice President is Leonard Talalai. As V.P. he runs the meetings when Bill Ryan (the chapter President) isn’t available, and that’s about the beginning and end of a Vice President’s formal duties. In some organizations the Vice President arranges the meeting programs, but Len has other tasks, so we’re also looking for a Program Chairman - but that’s not an elected position.

Lenny’s biggest job is running the visiting program. That involves scheduling about ten people who visit patients in the hospital as well as training new visitors and refreshing the training of experienced visitors. Len and Bill also hold classes for patients who have had stents implanted and for others who are leaving the hospital after bypass surgery - something like a group visit.

Len also arranges the annual Celebration of the Heart every December. That includes arranging for food, entertainment, decorations, contributions, etc.

Len could use some help. But right now we’re looking for a V.P. to fill the President’s shoes once in a while and hopefully give us a little help in other ways.
