Mended Hearts has joined forces with eHealth Initiative. The mission of eHealth Initiative (eHI) is to drive improvement in the quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare through information and technology. Mended Hearts is one of the few patient groups represented in the eHealth Initiative family. MHI is listed on the eHI members page under T, as “The Mended Hearts, Inc”.

The MHI website has new videos from last year’s national convention in New Orleans, featuring Mended Hearts members telling their stories about heart disease diagnosis and how they have overcome through MHI support and lifestyle changes.

Mended Hearts is made up of the very kinds of people it serves — heart patients, their families, and others impacted by heart disease. Mended Hearts support groups help people understand that there can be a rich, rewarding life after heart disease. Members volunteer to visit heart patients and their families in hospitals as living examples of survival and recovery.

Hearts of Jersey Chapter #179 was chartered at Neptune, NJ in February 1999 as a chapter of The Mended Hearts, Inc. We partner with the medical centers of the Meridian Health family:

• Meetings for education and mutual support are held at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, and Ocean Medical Center in Brick.
• Specially trained members visit heart disease patients while they are in these hospitals.
• A monthly newsletter is mailed to members and to patients who have been visited in the previous three months, and placed where heart patients are likely to gather.
